Newburgh, NY – Congressman Maurice Hinchey toured St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital to see firsthand the progress being made under the hospital’s 10-year, $100 million Master Facilities Plan. His tour included a visit to the Center for Joint Replacement, which provides specialty care in a hotel-like environment to knee- and hip-replacement patients, the renovated Imaging Department with its new 64-slice CT Scanner and the newly refurbished Telemetry Units, which have advanced monitored beds to enhance care of cardiac patients.

After touring SLCH’s facilities Hinchey commented, “St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital has undergone an incredible evolution that benefits all who live and work in the mid-Hudson Valley. I’m proud to do my part to further their mission, and to ensure that comprehensive health care is readily accessible to the people of our fast-growing region.”

Hinchey, who represents New York’s 22nd Congressional District, is a strong advocate for the advancement of health care in the region and firm supporter of SLCH’s initiatives to enhance technology, facilities and services through investment in equipment and infrastructure. Along with Senator Charles Schumer and Congressman John Hall, Hinchey worked to extend the hospital’s current Medicare Geographic Reclassification (MGR) for another year, and is trying to permanently correct an anomaly that puts SLCH in a lower reimbursement bracket than that of other Hudson Valley hospitals.
