Cardiac Rehabilitation
According to the American Heart Association, cardiac rehabilitation programs can “extend overall survival” and “improve quality of life” for those with coronary disease. St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital’s Center for Cardiac Rehabilitation has earned the Distinction of Excellence
from the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, ensuring patients that they are receiving the best care in the region.
Caring Hearts Program
SLCH has launched the Caring Hearts Program to increase the number of automated external defibrillators (AED) available in workplaces and public spaces. Under the program, businesses and organizations may purchase an AED at a significantly reduced cost, and SLCH provides the necessary training to the purchasers’ employees. Approximately 1,000 people every day suffer sudden cardiac arrest, and over 85 percent die because emergency medical personnel cannot get there within the three-minute, lifesaving window. Early defibrillation can improve survival rates in a cardiac emergency by up to 70 percent.
