Interdisciplinary clinical support is a vital part of what makes SLCH the health care provider of choice in the mid-Hudson Valley. The Center for Cardiac Care is supported by board-certified emergency-room physicians and is overseen by Mount Sinai-trained doctors.

Here’s a closer look at the caregivers who support the Center for Cardiac Care:

Emergency Medicine
The emergency rooms at the Newburgh and Cornwall campuses treat more than 60,000 patients each year. The physicians and other caregivers are specialty-trained in emergency medicine and are critical decision makers who contribute to the hospital’s overall success in treating patients with cardiovascular emergencies.

The emergency medicine team identifies and diagnoses cardiac emergencies, ensuring that patients are moved to the Center for Cardiac Care as quickly as possible for lifesaving interventions.

The Hospitalist Program
Hospitalists are a team of physicians who are experts in hospitalized medicine. They provide round-the-clock, inpatient, bedside care and communicate consistently with primary care doctors.

The Rapid Response Team
When a patient may need extra assistance, the Rapid Response Team (RRT) assembles and provides rapid bedside assessment in the care of patients. Their goal is to intervene before a patient requires specialized care in the ICU or, if necessary, to refer patients to the ICU as soon as possible to ensure they receive the care they require.

Critical Care
A physician board-certified in critical care is available to address the unique needs of critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
