Stephen Lepak, RN in the Emergency Department is our August Star of the Month! Stephen has been a dedicated member of the SLCH family since 2009, and recently went as far as to give the shoes off his feet to a patient in need. |
During a recent overnight shift, Stephen was caring for a patient involved in a tractor trailer rollover accident. The patient’s clothes and shoes were soaked in diesel fuel. He was in town from Michigan with no access to a change of clothes. Stephen provided the patient with donated clothes, including his own shoes.
Thank you, Stephen for all that you do!

The Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee has approved certain medications for formulary inclusion, but has restricted them to specific specialties. Restrictions are put in place for several reasons, including: cost considerations and ensuring proper use.
Some of the more commonly encountered restricted medications are described below along with the specialty to which they are restricted. A prescriber not included in one of these specialties is not approved to order these medications per P&T. They may obtain the desired medication for their patient by placing a consult to the appropriate discipline or contacting the P&T chairman directly.

Five licensed, unemployed RNs entered into the first Nurse Residency program this year because they were not able to get jobs, each wanting to continue to use their skills. Although unpaid for several months, all five successfully completed their residency and became SLCH RN’s.
Congratulations Amanda Cordero, Dana Jones, Paula Mendez, Margaret Rosas and Ann Marie Dietz!
