Nevertheless, we’re steadfast in our determination, and we’re backed by a team of highly trained and motivated doctors, nurses and clinicians, and dynamic support staff — a team that has accomplished much this past year. In 2010, we opened the Littman Cancer Center, which now offers Radiation Oncology in addition to the Infusion Suite, and support services such as Palliative Care, yoga, meditation, art and music therapy, as well as exercise and massage therapy. These services positively impact the comfort of our cancer patients, and provide needed support to family and loved ones. My late wife, Hollie, was an unwavering advocate of these services. In 2011, we’ll honor her memory with the addition of Hollie’s Garden, a quiet repose for patients and families and staff.
We have also expanded other service offerings in cardiac, orthopedics and emergency care. Our Cardiac Cath labs and Emergency Rooms are among the busiest in the region, and our orthopedic teams have expanded to include a new total joint specialist, Dr. Kelly Stets, and hand surgeon, Dr. Ronald Gonzalez.
The year also saw the departure of five senior Board leaders — men who devoted 100 years of volunteer service to the hospital: Richard Drake, Hal Kahn, David Marks, Richard O’Beirne and Wilbur Higgins. They will be missed. But, we also welcome four new members to our Board of Trustees: Geoffrey Brackett, Nicola “Nick” Citera, Glen Heller and James Taylor, Jr., as well as two additions to our Foundation Board, Eric Najork and Will Thorpe.
None of our accomplishments would have been possible without the drive and determination of our staff and Board, and the help of friends like you; your generosity has allowed us to excel and will enable us to provide for the community in the uncertain times ahead.
We thank you for all that you do!
Health, Happiness & Prosperity,
Allan E. Atzrott
