Littman Cancer Center to Benefit from Local Run/Walk
Newburgh, NY – The Second Annual Lap 4 Life Run/Walk was held on Saturday, June 26, at Newburgh’s scenic Chadwick Lake Park. The event, hosted by Lap 4 Life Foundation Inc., raised money and awareness for Desmoid Tumor and Intestinal Transplant Research, with proceeds benefiting the Littman Cancer Center (SLCH), The Mount Sinai Hospital and Memorial Sloan- Kettering Cancer Center. A total of $25,000.00 was earmarked for SLCH’s Littman Cancer Center.
This year’s run/walk -- the second annual event -- included
a
4-mile morning run/ walk, and kids ¼ mile fun run, with a daylong health fair featuring food and refreshments. Lap 4 Life honors the memory of Dr. Angelo Casabianca, who died in November 2009 of a complication relating to Desmoid Tumors.

“Partnering with SLCH is a great way for community members to help make a difference for their hospital,” said Sue Sullivan, Vice President of Advancement and Government Affairs. “Maddalena Casabianca- Reade and the Lap 4 Life Foundation are incredibly dedicated to their mission and it has been an honor to work with them over these past few months.” SLCH also did skin cancer screenings at the day-long health fair.
“I am thrilled with the number of people who attended; we had over 700 runners and walkers this year.
